What is Temet 25?

Temet 25 is the Teignbridge brand of stainless steel marine shaft material. It is a special high strength duplex stainless steel alloy with outstanding resistance to corrosion in seawater which makes it an ideal material for marine shafts. Temet 25 is available in the standard sizes to suit commercial and recreational boat applications.

Technical Advantages

The basis used by Lloyd’s for calculating a shaft diameter in stainless steel is by using the corrosion fatigue data. Due to the superior properties of Temet 25 reduced shaft diameters could be used or that greater longevity should result when using Temet 25 at the same diameter as the other materials.

The Teignbridge Propulsion Group is one of the Marine Industry's major suppliers of shafts and other underwater hardware. We received many requests from boatbuilders and owners to help reduce corrosion of propeller shafts. Most of the issues related to crevice corrosion and at that time, were beyond the control of shaft manufacturers or the boat owners. Teignbridge helped solve this problem by developing a new shaft material - Temet 25.
