New CNC Lathe
Arrives
Investment in new machinery continues at
Teignbridge Propellers Ltd in Newton Abbot. A new state of the art CNC lathe
has been delivered and installed this week.
The Tuscan LD48 is capable of rapidly machining propellers up to
48" in diameter with precision accuracy. This new 150,000 GBP lathe
complements the existing 12 other CNC machines in operation at Teignbridge
Propellers Limited.
Following the recent purchase of a new 5-axis
pattern mill, the continual investment program is one facet of the Teignbridge
strategy to continue to excel as one of the worlds leading propeller and stern
gear manufacturers.
In addition to the primary role of machining propellers, this versatile 16 tonne lathe is capable of machining shafts up to 6" diameter and over 6 meters in length, large rudders and other marine stern gear components.
Neil
Whitehouse, Operation Manager said This machine truly brings Teignbridge
Propellers into the 21st Century. It will enhance our ability to continue to
manufacture marine equipment to the highest quality. It also adds greater
flexibility to machining processes, this is all-important in the current
challenging global market.
